COGNITIVE LOAD THEORY

At Raena Learning Centre, we constantly refine our teaching methods to help students learn smarter — not harder. One of the key frameworks guiding our tutor training is Cognitive Load Theory (CLT).

In simple terms, CLT reminds us that the human brain can only process a limited amount of information at once. When lessons are overloaded with too much content or poorly structured materials, students struggle to retain or apply what they’ve learned.

That’s why our tutors are trained to:

  • Break complex topics into smaller, manageable parts

  • Remove unnecessary distractions and jargon

  • Use worked examples and scaffolded practice

  • Encourage students to explain concepts in their own words

The result? Students not only understand the material — they remember it and apply it effectively in exams.

At Raena Learning, we believe effective teaching isn’t about how much we teach, but how well students can think, connect, and grow from what they learn.
